Tasks
Days 1 and 2
You will work with your lab partner to find and evaluate websites on atmospheric science and lighter-than-air craft. You will use a rubric to evaluate the quality of the sites you visit, enter your best sites into a shared spreadsheet, and write and respond to blog posts on the information collected.
Day 3
You and your lab partner will submit an online report of your observations and reflections on the properties of gases in a series of interactive, web-based simulations in Molecular Workbench.
Days 4, 5 and 6
You will collaborate as design engineers, atmospheric scientists, and aerospace contractors to propose concept design specifications for a fleet of low cost lighter-than-air craft to collect data on the Earth’s atmosphere. You will use a rubric to compare your proposal to alternative methods of achieving the same goal.
